Meet Vicky
Assemblywoman Vicky Flynn is a member of the New Jersey Assembly, representing Legislative District
13, which includes 16 towns in Monmouth County. Asw. Flynn was one of the many new members elected
in 2021, increasing the number of female representatives in the New Jersey Assembly.
Asw. Flynn represents District 13 alongside Senator Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblyman Gerry
Scharfenberger. Asw. Flynn is a fierce advocate on issues related to education, women’s health, public
safety, and pandemic recovery.
Asw. Flynn is a lifelong New Jersey resident who graduated from Rutgers University in 1996 and Seton
Hall University in 1999 (with honors). Following law school, Asw. Flynn was selected by Justice Jaynee
LaVecchia of the New Jersey Supreme Court to serve as the Justice’s first law clerk.
Since her clerkship, Asw. Flynn has maintained an active law practice, working with some of the State’s
largest law firms. She quickly was made partner in her fourth year as a lawyer. Upon joining the
Legislature, however, Asw. Flynn started her own law practice so that she could more easily balance her
work as a legislator with her legal career.
Asw. Flynn has served with distinction as a member of two Boards of Education prior to her election to the Assembly. From 2016 to 2021, Asw. Flynn was a member of the Holmdel Board of Education, and during her final four years, she was selected to serve as the Board president. As the President of the school board during the pandemic, Asw. Flynn pushed to have schools open as quickly and safely as possible.
Asw. Flynn resides in Holmdel with her husband Mike Naughton, their three teenage daughters, Grace,
Kate & Shannon, and their dog Bailey.
